5 Best Car Movies of All Time

Volkswagen Jetta CovinaIf you’re looking for gift ideas for a gearhead, click here to read the auto body-related items we recommended in last year’s holiday blog post. This year, we suggest you consider DVDs or digital downloads for every car lover on your list. Who doesn’t love a great car flick? Here are our pics. Happy Holidays!

  1. The Fast & The Furious
Let’s include all eight in the mix. If you love fast cars, you have probably already seen this series. And what else is this movie genre good for apart from the vehicles it defines? We love them all, from the 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse to the 1993 Mazda RX-7 to the 1994 Acura Integra to the 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo. And don’t forget the Volkswagen Jetta A3, 1995 Honda Civic (Yes, a Civic can be cool!), 1970 Dodge Charger R/T and 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. Let’s face it; this movie has cool cars.
  2. DuelDuel Movie Truck
Okay, it’s creepy. We agree. But if you love car movies, you have got to see this Dennis Weaver vehicle featuring a classic Plymouth Valiant. The other car is a beat-up old oil truck. More than the animated flick, Cars, this movie turned a machine into a convincing menace.
  3. Gone in 60 Seconds
The acting is sub-par. The script is so-so. But the cars in this classic starring Nicolas Cage rock! This film features a parade of excellent motors, each named after a woman. We love the 1962 Aston Martin DB1, a 1999 Bentley Azure, 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB4, a 1987 Ferrari Testarossa, a 2000 Volvo Turbo Wagon R, and on and on.Bentley
  4. Bullitt
One of the best car movies of all time. During filming, the cinematographer was strapped to the hood of a Ford Mustang. He stayed there, holding a camera, as the car drifted along the San Francisco streets at 100 mph. This movie cemented the Mustang as the go-to muscle car, a reputation it has not since relinquished since.
  5. Road Warrior
The Mad Max movie that made Mel Gibson a star, this revolves around fast-moving machines dependent on gas to get from violent Point A to violent Point B. A post-nuclear disaster and humanity are on display. And don’t forget you’ll get to see Mel Gibson eating a can of dog food. Although the Australian dialogue is difficult to follow, it doesn’t matter. The sentiment boils down to the fact that petroleum saves us while driving us apart.Dogfood Car Repair Covina
